Ok I am connected to the WildIRC Network, now what?
| If you connected to the WildIRC Network to join a specific channel, you may join that channel by typing: /join #yourchannel (For example, if you wanted to join #WildIRC you would type: /join #WildIRC). | How do I register my nickname? |
Unfortunately, the WildIRC Network does not allow nickname registration. Thus, on the WildIRC Network, all nicknames are unprotected. However, nickname abuse (as defined by our operation manual or interpreted by a WildIRC Staff member, may result in removal from the WildIRC Network). What we allow is called, “Account Registration”. What this does is allows you to register on the WildIRC Network but under your hostname instead of a nickname. We have done this to make the process of chatting on the WildIRC Network much easier and believe it or not, this is a much safer way of registration. To register your account please issue the following commands: 1) Type: /msg AuthServ@Services.WildIRC.Net register ACCOUNT PASSWORD EMAIL a. The “ACCOUNT” variable can be anything and is much like a username field. b. Please ensure you enter in a valid email address as an activation email will be forwarded to you. 2) Once you have issued the Step 1 command, please check your email for an activation email. 3) Included in your activation email will be a COOKIE code. Please enter the code it gives you. 4) All Done! You have successfully registered on the WildIRC Network! However, each time you connect to the WildIRC Network, you will need to authenticate yourself to AuthServ. You can do this by typing the following command: 1) /msg AuthServ@Services.WildIRC.Net auth ACCOUNT PASSWORD For any further assistance regarding Account Registration, please /join #CService – Thanks!
Why do I have to go to my email every time I auth to my account?
This is a security feature that is connected with your hostname. However, this problem can be resolved securely. If you are having this problem, please /join #Help and wait for the next available representative.
