So what does it take to become a featured channel on the WildIRC IRC Network?
1) Your channel must be a “true” chat channel. In other words, your channel must be active. We expect our channels to be full of life, energy, and activity.
2) Your channel must be friendly and open. Private, secret, locked, and channels closed to the general public are not eligible to become featured.
3) Your channel must be registered with our network services (W & StatServ). For help with channel registration, please join #CService.
4) Your channel must be moderated. In other words, your channel must have some channel moderators. We do not expect everyone in your channel to be moderators, just a couple so we know your channel is secure.
5) Your channel must not promote indecent liberties. In other words, we require your channel to be respectable for all ages.
6) Your channel must be established. Your channel must have been officially registered for a minimum of six (6) months.
The Process:
1) The first step to becoming featured is to of course, meet the above requirements.
2) The second step is to contact a WildIRC Staff member to nominate your channel. Any staff member is eligible to do this.
3) Once your channel has been nominated, the WildIRC Network Director will set a trial period. This trial period will last for approximately thirty (30) days. In which time, your channel will be monitored, channel moderators may asked to be interviewed, and to overall gather information on what the channel is all about.
4) After the thirty (30) day trial period, the WildIRC Network Director will set a date (usually within three (3) days after the trial period has been completed) for the overall staff to vote on whether or not your channel should become a featured channel on the WildIRC IRC Network. The vote will be open for twenty-four (24) hours.
5) At the conclusion of the vote, the channel owner will be notified of the outcome. If your channel becomes featured, you will be given the official featured channel seal, free advertising banners on the WildIRC website, and the rights to be classified as a featured channel on the WildIRC IRC Network. Your channel will also be granted free lifetime webhosting which include: MySQL databased, unlimited email addresses, forums, etc … all the works!
6) However, if your channel goes through the verification process, and after the vote your channel was not accepted as a featured channel, you must then wait three (3) months before your channel can be resubmitted. The entire verification process will then repeat itself.
Please note: The WildIRC Featured Channel is an elite group of channels who represent the WildIRC IRC Network as professional, active, and safe chatrooms. Of course, we recognize that every chat channel that is established on the WildIRC IRC Network is important, but there are some chatrooms established that are not meant for the general public, and they were intentionally setup that way. Therefor, we have established the Featured Channel program to promote the chatrooms who are open to the general public and are interested in growing in every way possible. Becoming a featured channel is a long and hard process, and was intentionally setup that way.
